Ford

The PowerShop specializes in performance upgrades for full-size Ford 7.3 PowerStroke turbodiesel pickups, as well as pickups with Ford 460 and V10 Triton gasoline-powered engines. Packages for motorhomes with Ford 460 and V10 Triton gasoline engines are also available. Some of the more common performance questions we are asked about these engines are:
More Power
Horsepower upgrades for PowerStrokes and F250 and F350 trucks with 460 and V10 Triton gas engines are one of the most common things we do - we upgrade about a dozen PowerStrokes a month! The before-and-after difference is quite pronounced, even in the new 2000 trucks.
Exhaust Manifold Failures
Yes. Sooner or later they all do it. And the harder they work, the earlier it will happen. In this category the 460 gasoline engines are very susceptible to these problems, and only time will tell if the V10s will suffer the same fate. If you drive a 460 and it has gotten to the point where you can hear the exhaust leak noise while you are driving, it is already too late - odds are you are looking at new exhaust manifold(s) and in worst cases, new cylinder heads. The fact is that although these engines have been experiencing these problems for many years, the manufacturer has yet to correct the factors that cause this situation, and has not put forward a workable alternative, effectively abandoning the product to it's fate, and the vehicle owners to a mandatory expense that should be avoidable. The only actual cure we have ever found to this scene are the Banks mandrel-bent headers supplied with the StingerPlus and PowerPack products. The 5/8" stainless steel header flanges are engineered to expand and contract exactly in sync with the expansion and contraction of the cylinder head, which means longer head life and reduced chance of the #1 cause of exhaust failure - broken manifold bolts.
Additional Stopping and Braking Power
Many PowerStroke owners, especially those that tow heavy loads routinely, have asked us for recommendations on extra stopping power. Our immediate suggestion is the BD Engine Brake. This product is a compression brake designed specifically for diesel pickups.
